C/R:Angry Biriwa Chief Fishermen Call for Landing Site Following Destructive Sea Storm The chief fishermen of Biriwa have urgently demanded the construction of a landing site (harbour) to protect their canoes from destruction during storms. Biriwa, a fishing community in the Central Region under the Mfantseman Municipality, is well known for its fishing activities and densely populated community. A press conference was held on Wednesday, 4th February 2026, to address the continuous threat posed by the absence of a landing site. On Tuesday, 3rd February 2026, several canoes were carried away by rough seas during a storm. According to Nana Kofi Afomoa (V), Chief Fisherman of Biriwa, the fishermen in the town are suffering due to the lack of a landing beach.
