Achiase District Celebrates National Farmers’ Day at Akyem Nyankomase
The Achiase District marked this year’s National Farmers’ Day with a vibrant and well-attended ceremony at Akyem Nyankomase in the Eastern Region. The event brought together farmers, traditional authorities, district officials, and community members to celebrate the critical role of agriculture in the district’s development.
District Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Owusu Brako, delivered the keynote address, applauding farmers for their dedication and hard work throughout the year.
He emphasized the need for unity among farmers and encouraged them to continue supporting the district in ensuring a steady and reliable food supply. The DCE also congratulated all award winners and urged them to keep striving for excellence.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of Okopa Farms Enterprise, which was adjudged the Overall Best Farmer of the Year.
Representatives of the farm expressed their gratitude for the honour and encouraged the youth to venture into agriculture. They noted that farming has significantly transformed their lives and remains a profitable and sustainable career path. According to the farm, the agricultural sector offers great opportunities for young people willing to learn, innovate, and work hard.
The event also saw the presence of several traditional leaders, including Nana Owusu Twum Barima, the Akyem Aperade Omanhene, along with other chiefs, who came to acknowledge and celebrate the farmers for their invaluable contributions to the community.
The occasion featured cultural performances, exhibitions of farm produce, and the presentation of awards to deserving farmers, making this year’s celebration both inspiring and memorable.
