Afenyo-Markin's Call for Unity: “Touch One, Touch All” Should Be the Spirit of the NPP

Image
On Saturday, July 19, 2025, Ghana’s political landscape witnessed a bold and striking statement from the Minority Leader in Parliament , Alexander Afenyo-Markin , as he delivered a powerful message that is sure to spark conversations across the political spectrum. In a message aired on GHOne TV , the vocal legislator called on members of his own party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) , to reflect deeply on the true meaning of their party’s well-known slogan: “Moving Forward.” Afenyo-Markin’s statement may be short, but it’s loaded with meaning. In many ways, he’s asking a vital question: Are we truly moving forward together, or only for a few? By saying “touch one, touch all,” he’s reminding the NPP—and maybe even all political entities—that the strength of a party lies not just in its leadership, but in its unity. When one member is affected, the rest should feel it. When one wins, all should celebrate. When one struggles, the whole group should rally. This kind of thinking challeng...

When you grow, no one will question how many times you get to do it." This quote, which has now gone viral on social media and news platforms like GHOne TV , strikes at the heart of a deeply rooted issue in our society— the need to protect young girls from premature sexual advances, societal pressures, and systemic neglect , and to encourage them to prioritize their education and development. A Cry for Protection and Accountability The first part of her statement is a clear call-out to older me...

Sam George calls for equal justice on attack on him during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by election   Ningo-Prampram MP, Sam Nartey George, is calling on the Ghana Police Service to act on a complaint he filed nearly five years ago following the violence that marred the 2019 Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election. In a post on social media on Friday, July 10, Mr. George reminded the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) that he is still awaiting justice for the assault he suffered during the election. “I have patiently waited since 2019 for justice to be served,” he wrote, urging the police to handle the matter on a “first come, first served basis.” Sam George also issued a caution to those who downplayed the incident at the time, warning them against commenting on similar political violence today. “You sowed the wind and you have reaped the whirlwind,” he added.
