Residents also complain that despite paying a fee to use the facility, the operators fail to maintain it properly. According to local sources, the two suspects reportedly snatched a motorbike from the rider, whose name has been withheld, and killed him before abandoning his body in a nearby cassava farm. While attempting to flee with the stolen motorbike, the suspects encountered a friend of the deceased rider. An alarm was raised, drawing the attention of the youth in the community. The mob pursued the suspects and lynched them. Police have since launched an investigation into the incident.   Five chinese owned warehouses shut down for storage and fabrication of Chanfan Five chinese owned warehouses at Anwia Nkwantah in the Ashanti Region have been shut down for stocking and fabrication of changfan machines and other illegal mining equipment. The operations spearheaded by the Environmental Protection Authority come after declaration on the ban on the changfan machines and their fabrication. Hundreds of such equipment were found in their warehouses, which is supposed to be used for storage of spare parts. CEO of the EPA, Professor Nana Ama Browne Klutse says the operations will be replicated in other regions affected by illegal mining.

  Stakeholders Dialogue on Responsible Cooperative Mining Held for Newmont Ahafo South Host Communities As part of an official visit to the Ahafo Region, a Stakeholders Dialogue on Responsible Cooperative Mining was held today at Goaso. The meeting brought together representatives from Newmont Ghana Mining Company, National Officials of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Program (rCOMSDEP), Traditional Rulers (Nananom) from various traditional councils in the region, as well as officials from the Minerals Commission, Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), Water Resources Commission, small-scale miners, and youth leaders from mining communities.
